KUCHING – The Voluntary Patrol Scheme (Skim Rondaan Sukarela, SRS) Sungai Maong Pondok was officially launched yesterday, marking a significant step in enhancing safety and security for the local community. The ceremony was attended by N11 Representative YB See Chee How, community leaders, and law enforcement officials.
Established in 2018, SRS Sungai Maong has steadily grown over the years, thanks to the dedication of its members and strong support from local residents. The team recently earned recognition as the most active SRS unit in Kuching, reflecting their continuous efforts in maintaining peace and order in the neighbourhood.
The new pondok represents years of careful planning and collaboration between local residents, the SRS team, the police, and relevant authorities. With more than 30 active members conducting regular patrols, the unit has proven effective in community coordination and crime prevention. Residents expressed confidence that the patrols would serve as a visible deterrent to crime while fostering stronger neighbourhood ties.
YB See Chee How praised the commitment of SRS Sungai Maong members, highlighting the importance of shared responsibility in building a safe and harmonious community. He also extended gratitude to the Ketua Polis Daerah Kuching, ACP Alexson, and his officers for their ongoing support and guidance. Special recognition was given to Penghulu Ngiam Ann Kee, Penghulu Alex Pui, and other community leaders for their leadership, collaboration, and dedication to public safety.

The launch of the Sungai Maong SRS Pondok is expected to further strengthen community engagement and improve the overall security landscape in the area. Residents are encouraged to actively participate in supporting the patrols and maintaining vigilance in neighbourhood safety initiatives.
