The two main concerns of the visit were the area’s frequent floods and the state of the access roads that connect the homes of the villagers to the main road. Residents have long pointed out both issues as barriers to everyday life and community safety.

Building sluice gates to control water flow and lessen the effects of flooding is one of the primary ideas being reviewed. For Kampung Buda, flooding has been a recurring problem that disrupts livelihoods and puts property and safety at risk. One possible long-term solution to lessen these issues is the sluice gate project.

The survey looked at the condition of access roads in addition to flood control. Concerns about the need for safer and more dependable routes, especially in inclement weather, have been voiced by numerous villagers. In addition to increasing safety, better road infrastructure would make it easier for locals to get around, promoting social and economic activity.

According to Dato Dr. Richard Rapu, the results of his field survey will be the basis for additional conversations with pertinent organisations. He emphasised that in order to guarantee successful and long-lasting solutions, cooperation between government agencies and stakeholders is crucial.

He stated that infrastructure upgrades are essential for assisting rural communities and that the welfare of Kampung Buda residents continues to be a top priority. Additionally, the MP emphasised that these programs are in line with Betong’s larger development objectives, which prioritise flood mitigation and rural connectivity.

The visit is a reflection of local leaders’ continued efforts to find workable solutions to rural problems. In order to make sure that future projects are adapted to the realities faced by villagers, policymakers examine infrastructure needs on-site.

For Kampung Buda, the planned road improvements and sluice gates are more than just tangible enhancements; they are steps towards increased community resilience, safety, and quality of life.
