KUCHING, 22 January – In a customary practice that underscores the constitutional relationship between the state leadership, TYT Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, at Kasuma Resort, Petra Jaya, today.
The visit, which began at 10.00 am, is a constitutional requirement and a traditional prelude to the State Government Council (MMKN) meeting. It reflects the long-standing practice in Sarawak where state leaders meet to discuss key policies and the direction of governance before formal government council sessions.
The meeting was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, and both leaders engaged in detailed discussions on the future direction of the Sarawak Region. The talks centred on the state’s development agenda, with particular focus on strategies to drive economic growth and improve administrative efficiency across Sarawak.
During the discussion, Tun Pehin Sri shared his views on current issues affecting the state. He spoke on matters relating to administration and the economy, emphasising the need for continuous planning and strong policy implementation. His remarks highlighted the importance of consistent governance and a forward-looking approach to ensure the state’s progress.
Tun Pehin Sri also expressed his appreciation for the policies and long-term planning introduced by the Sarawak Premier. He commended the Premier’s efforts to steer Sarawak towards becoming one of Malaysia’s most advanced regions by 2030. The appreciation reflects a shared commitment among state leaders to elevate Sarawak’s status through strategic development and strong governance.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their dedication to the state’s development and continued cooperation in serving the people of Sarawak. Their discussions are expected to guide the direction of the upcoming State Government Council meeting.
