PADAWAN – The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has stepped up its enforcement by pulling down illegal advertisements at various locations in its jurisdiction. It’s part of the council’s continued efforts in keeping the town clean, safe and tidy for those who live and visit.
In the latest crackdown, enforcement teams tore down posters, stickers, banners and buntings put up without official endorsement.
They held banners in the air which were pasted on lamp posts, road signs, trees, walls of buildings and other public places Authorities pointed out that illegal hoardings not only mar the city’s beauty but are also dangerous to motorists and pedestrians.
Unlicensed money lending adverts, which the town hall has been tackling for many years were among fixtures that came under attack. Advertising for companies, services and events that did not have permits from the council were also taken down.
Removal efforts are conducted by the MPP enforcement team’s scheduled patrols and further based on community complaints for follow-up actions. The council has encouraged residents to keep up reporting of rogue advertisement, warning that joint enforcement between the public and authorities is crucial in maintaining effectiveness.
Images for illegal advertising can block drivers’ sightliness, cause distractions of the road and add to public blight. In clearing away these items, MPP is committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring a city that looks good.
The council said it would continue to enhance enforcement in the coming months. Occasional clean up exercises will remain a necessity to keep Padawan clean, safe and friendly for the residents and visitors.
This program is part of MPP’s wider work to maintain urban quality and encourage accountable business practices and citizen behaviour. The council wants to create a more coherent and inviting environment across its jurisdiction by dealing with illegal adverts.
