Kuching South Mayor Shares Festive Cheer with Healthcare Frontliners

KUCHING – In the spirit of the upcoming Chinese New Year, Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South, visited Klinik Kesihatan Tanah Puteh to extend festive greetings and appreciation to healthcare frontliners.

The visit was joined by community leaders and made possible through the sponsorship of Kapitan Tan Teck Ming.

During the occasion, the mayor personally conveyed his gratitude to doctors, nurses, and medical staff for their dedication in safeguarding public health.

He emphasised that healthcare workers remain the backbone of the community, noting their professionalism, resilience, and compassion, particularly as they continue to serve during the festive season.

“Healthcare workers are the backbone of our community. Their professionalism, resilience, and compassion deserve our deepest respect and appreciation, especially as they continue to care for others during the festive season,” said Dato Wee.

As a gesture of encouragement, small tokens of appreciation were presented to the medical staff. The mayor explained that the gifts symbolised gratitude and support for their tireless service.

He further expressed hope that the visit would bring warmth and festive cheer to the Chinese New Year celebrations, while extending his wishes for good health, peace, and well-being to healthcare workers and the wider community.

“May the coming year bring continued good health and harmony. Through mutual care and collective effort, we can move forward together towards a more caring and resilient society,” he added.

The visit highlighted the importance of recognising the contributions of healthcare professionals, especially during festive periods when many continue to work while others celebrate.

It also reflected the city’s commitment to fostering unity, compassion, and appreciation for those who serve on the frontlines of public health.

Community leaders present at the event echoed the mayor’s sentiments, stressing that healthcare workers deserve ongoing support and recognition for their vital role in maintaining the well-being of society.

The initiative was seen as a meaningful way to strengthen ties between local leadership and the medical community, reinforcing Kuching’s values of care and resilience.
