MIRI – The JPJ Miri Branch carried out Ops Luxury on 10 February 2026, focusing on road safety violations through patrols and monitoring in the city, alongside static inspections at Jalan Permyjaya Bypass.
During the operation, 450 vehicles, both commercial and private, were inspected. Officers found several offences, including driving without a valid licence, failure to wear seat belts, incorrect registration numbers, and technical faults that posed safety risks.
In a notable enforcement action, two luxury vehicles, a Toyota Vellfire and a Toyota Land Cruiser, were confiscated. Both were found with expired motor vehicle licences (LKM) and without valid insurance coverage.
JPJ Miri emphasised that enforcement applies to all road users, regardless of vehicle type or value. There are no exemptions, reinforcing the department’s commitment to upholding road safety regulations.
Officials noted that combining patrols with static checkpoints allows enforcement teams to detect violations more effectively and discourage unsafe behaviour.
The public was reminded to ensure all vehicle documents, including driving licences, LKM, and insurance policies, are valid before taking to the road.
JPJ Miri stressed that community cooperation is crucial to maintaining safety standards and reducing accident risks.
Authorities confirmed that similar enforcement operations will continue across Sarawak, focusing on both routine checks and targeted initiatives. JPJ Miri reaffirmed that its priority is to safeguard the safety and well-being of all road users.
