MIRI – The JPJ Miri Branch carried out a series of activities with JPJ Cadets alongside a Road Safety Lecture on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to instil safe driving practices among the younger generation.
The programme was divided into two sessions, with the morning session involving 70 participants and the afternoon session drawing a larger crowd of 200 attendees.
The strong turnout reflected the community’s commitment to road safety and the eagerness of students to learn more about responsible driving behaviour.
Acting Head of JPJ Miri Branch, Tuan Yusuf bin Andan, was present to oversee the event. He reaffirmed the department’s dedication to grassroots advocacy, highlighting the importance of educating young people about safety on the roads. His support underscored JPJ’s broader mission to reduce accidents and promote integrity among road users.
In addition to the lectures, participants were given the opportunity to explore a technical vehicle exhibition organised by the Miri Road and Corporate Safety Unit (UKJRK).
The exhibition provided practical insights into vehicle maintenance, compliance with road regulations, and the importance of ensuring vehicles are kept in safe condition.
The lectures themselves focused on key aspects of road safety, including defensive driving, adherence to traffic laws, and the dangers of reckless behaviour.
By engaging cadets and students directly, JPJ aimed to foster a culture of responsibility that extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life.
Road safety remains a pressing issue in Malaysia, with authorities consistently emphasising the need for awareness campaigns and educational programmes.
Initiatives such as those conducted in Miri are part of JPJ Sarawak’s wider strategy to produce road users who are not only cautious but also uphold integrity and responsibility.
