SRI AMAN – Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Government Secretary, visited the Pantu District Office, Engkilili Sub-District Office and Lubok Antu District Office on Wednesday to review infrastructure upgrades and staff housing plans.
The tour began in Pantu. Sri Aman Resident Mahra Salleh presented plans for a new district office building and staff quarters, followed by a briefing from District Officer Raca Mulong. The delegation then inspected the proposed site for the project.
In Engkilili, Lubok Antu District Officer Akoi Ejau confirmed approval for new staff quarters to house 13 personnel. He outlined three possible locations for a new sub-district office. Site A spans 1.51 acres of state land. Site B and Site C cover 4.99 acres and 7.87 acres of private land.
The visit ended in Lubok Antu, where the team examined land set aside for staff quarters. The inspections form part of a broader push to upgrade government facilities in rural districts so they meet current administrative demands.
Earlier in Pantu, Mohamad Abu Bakar urged all parties to move quickly. “We are now in the year of implementation. I want all stakeholders, regardless of race, to work together so the project is completed as soon as possible,” he said. He expects visible progress before the next Sarawak State Legislative Assembly sitting.
Also present was Sarawak Deputy Secretary to the Government (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, reflecting the administrative backing behind the projects.
The visits signal the state government’s focus on strengthening district-level administration, particularly in rural areas such as Sri Aman. By upgrading offices and providing proper housing for staff, the government aims to improve service delivery and close the gap between urban centres and smaller towns.
The projects in Pantu, Engkilili and Lubok Antu form part of Sarawak’s broader plan to decentralise development and ensure rural communities receive the facilities they need.
