YB Senator Calls for Unity in Kuching Chinese New Year 2026

KUCHING – As preparations for Chinese New Year 2026 ramp up across Kuching, YB Senator Dato’ Ahmad Bin Dato’ Sri Hj Ibrahim has called on the community to celebrate the festive season together, regardless of race or religion. The Batu Kawa area has become a focal point for festive activities, with streets being decorated and local groups preparing cultural performances for the upcoming celebrations.

In his message, the Senator extended warm wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year. “May the Year of the Horse bring progress, health, and happiness to all, and strengthen ties within the community,” he said. He emphasized the importance of “Segulai Sejalai,” a Sarawakian spirit of unity and togetherness, urging residents to embrace harmony during this festive season.

Preparations for the Chinese New Year are evident across the city, from brightly lit streets to traditional lion and dragon dance performances. Community members and local authorities are working hand in hand to ensure that the celebrations are not only joyful but also inclusive, reflecting Sarawak’s long-standing culture of racial and religious harmony.

The Senator’s message reinforces the idea that festivals are a time to come together, share joy, and celebrate heritage as one community. Families are encouraged to gather, friends to exchange greetings, and neighbours to enjoy the cultural activities that bring people closer, regardless of their backgrounds.

As Kuching looks forward to the Year of the Horse, YB Senator Dato’ Ahmad Bin Dato’ Sri Hj Ibrahim’s call reminds everyone that the true spirit of the festival lies in unity, harmony, and mutual respect. Residents and visitors alike are invited to participate in the celebrations, embracing the season with warmth, joy, and togetherness.
