MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Mukah successfully handled a snake-catching case on Monday, 23 February 2026, following an emergency call from the public.
The incident involved a black cobra, measuring approximately half a metre in length, discovered in the yard of a residential property. The presence of the venomous snake prompted immediate concern among residents, who contacted APM for assistance.
A task force was swiftly deployed to the location. Using the pincer technique, officers managed to capture the cobra safely without causing harm to the animal or the surrounding community. The situation was brought under control, and no untoward incidents were reported during the operation.
Officials confirmed that the area was secured following the capture, ensuring residents could resume their daily activities without risk. The successful intervention highlighted the importance of community vigilance and the effectiveness of APM’s rapid response measures.
Snake encounters are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where vegetation and water sources provide suitable habitats.
