Fiesta Bazaar Ramadan Sri Aman Offers 92 Lots for Local Traders

SIMANGGANG – The Fiesta Bazaar Ramadan in front of the Tabung Haji Sri Aman Office has become one of the district’s main attractions during the fasting month, offering 92 sales lots that provide significant economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Organised by the Sri Aman-Betong Malay Brotherhood Association, in collaboration with the Simanggang Entrepreneurs’ Committee and Resipi Teratak Sdn Bhd, the bazaar has quickly established itself as a preferred destination for iftar food while also serving as a platform to strengthen community ties and welfare.

Programme Coordinator Awang Magerib Awang Anie explained that the 92 lots cover a wide range of categories to meet the diverse needs of visitors. “A total of 37 lots are allocated for food sales: 20 lots of pastries, 14 lots of baked goods, 10 lots of various products, 10 lots of drinks and one lot for perfume sales. This organisation provides a great opportunity for local traders to showcase their products while generating income throughout Ramadan,” he said.

The bazaar is also integrated with the Ramadan Bazaar Rahmah Sri Aman 2026, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN). Scheduled from 19 February to 20 March, the combined event is expected to further enhance the festive atmosphere and attract larger crowds.

Beyond commerce, the organisers have planned several community-focused programmes, including an opening ceremony, the Almsgiving for Almsgiving initiative, distribution of bubur lambuk and food baskets, as well as the opening of a zakat counter. These activities aim to enrich the Ramadan spirit while supporting community welfare.

The bazaar will be officially launched on 28 February by Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, with the presence of Sri Aman Division Resident Mahra Saleh and Sri Aman KPDN Branch Head Qartinee Mohamad Esa.

Surveys conducted at the site revealed that visitors began arriving as early as 1pm daily, reflecting strong community support and participation from people of different races and religions. The event has been praised for fostering inclusivity while boosting the local economy.

With its combination of cultural celebration, economic empowerment and community welfare, the Fiesta Bazaar Ramadan is expected to remain a highlight of Sri Aman’s Ramadan calendar, strengthening the role of small and medium entrepreneurs in the district.
