BALAI RINGIN – The agricultural road project in Kampung Danau Keranggas Melikin is expected to be completed by April 2026, marking another milestone in rural infrastructure development for the Balai Ringin constituency.
The announcement was made during a project handover ceremony organised by the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) on Thursday.
The initiative is part of the state’s broader rural development agenda, aimed at improving connectivity and supporting the socio-economic growth of local communities.
The new road is designed to ease the transportation of agricultural produce while also improving daily mobility for villagers.
By providing better access, the project is expected to reduce logistical challenges faced by farmers and enhance the efficiency of moving goods to nearby markets.
Tuai Rumah Luang Penguang expressed his gratitude to Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts of Sarawak and State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Balai Ringin, for his continued commitment to rural development. He noted that the project reflects the government’s dedication to uplifting communities in remote areas.
Residents believe the road will bring significant benefits, not only by improving infrastructure but also by strengthening communication networks and fostering economic opportunities.
The project is anticipated to encourage greater participation in agricultural activities while also supporting education and healthcare access through improved connectivity.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Sarawak government to bridge the rural-urban divide. Similar projects across the state have been credited with boosting local economies, reducing isolation, and enhancing the overall quality of life for villagers.
With completion targeted for April 2026, the Kampung Danau Keranggas Melikin road project is expected to become a vital link for the community, reinforcing Balai Ringin’s role in Sarawak’s rural development strategy.
