BAU – A swift response from the Bau District Civil Defence Force (APM Bau) helped ensure the safety of students and staff at SK Tringgus Bau after a snake was discovered within the school compound on Monday.
The District Operation Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call at 11:47 am reporting the presence of a ring snake. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to handle the situation.
Civil Defence personnel arrived promptly and carried out the removal operation, ensuring that the reptile was safely captured without harm to the public. The incident was resolved efficiently, preventing any potential danger to the school community.
Local authorities emphasised that the safety of students remains a top priority. The Bau Civil Defence Force has urged residents to remain vigilant and to report similar cases without delay.
Snake encounters are not uncommon in rural and semi-rural areas of Sarawak, particularly during periods of hot weather or when wildlife ventures closer to human settlements. Schools and residential areas are occasionally affected, prompting the need for rapid intervention by emergency services.
The Civil Defence Force reminded the public that emergency assistance is available through their Bau office at 082-762925 or via the national emergency line at 999. They stressed that immediate reporting allows officers to act quickly and prevent accidents.
This incident highlights the importance of community cooperation with emergency services. By alerting authorities in a timely manner, residents play a crucial role in safeguarding their neighbourhoods.
The Bau District Civil Defence Force continues to monitor and respond to wildlife-related emergencies, reinforcing its commitment to public safety.
Officials have also encouraged schools and communities to maintain awareness programmes that educate the public on how to react calmly and responsibly in such situations.
While the snake was successfully removed without incident, the case serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in Sarawak. Authorities remain prepared to respond to similar emergencies across the district.
