APM Bau Responds to Snake Case in Gumbang Village

BAU – The Bau District Civil Defence Force (APM Bau) acted swiftly on Monday after receiving an emergency call reporting a snake sighting in Gumbang Village.

The District Operation Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed that the alert was made at 11:10 am, prompting immediate deployment of officers to the location. The case was categorised as a snake-catching incident, with personnel ensuring the reptile was safely removed from the area.

Authorities reported that the operation was carried out without harm to residents or the animal. The Civil Defence Force highlighted the importance of rapid response in such situations, particularly in rural communities where encounters with wildlife are more frequent.

Snake sightings in Sarawak are not unusual, especially in villages surrounded by forested areas. Rising temperatures and habitat changes often drive reptiles closer to human settlements, increasing the likelihood of such incidents.

Local officials reminded the public that emergency assistance is readily available. Residents facing similar situations are encouraged to contact the Bau Civil Defence office at 082-762925 or dial the national emergency line, 999. Quick reporting, they stressed, allows officers to act promptly and prevent accidents.

The Civil Defence Force continues to monitor wildlife-related emergencies across Bau District, reinforcing its commitment to community safety.

Officials also urged villagers to remain calm when encountering snakes and to avoid attempting to handle them without professional help.

This latest case underscores the importance of cooperation between residents and emergency services. By alerting authorities immediately, communities play a vital role in ensuring safety and preventing potential harm.

The Bau Civil Defence Force has assured the public that it remains prepared to respond to similar emergencies, with trained personnel on standby to manage wildlife encounters across the district.
