The couple touched down at the Hornbill Skyways Terminal at 1.45 pm, where they were greeted by senior officers from the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Office. Their return marks the conclusion of several days of official duties in the capital.
Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan had been in Kuala Lumpur since last Thursday, participating in multiple state-related events. Among the highlights was the Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026 ceremony, which took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The event brought together Sarawakian communities and leaders to celebrate cultural unity and strengthen ties between the state and the federal capital.
In a statement following their arrival, the governor and his wife expressed appreciation for the smooth journey and extended gratitude to all parties involved in coordinating the ceremonies. They noted that every event was conducted in an orderly and dignified manner, reflecting the professionalism of the organisers.
The governor’s presence at national-level functions underscores Sarawak’s active role in fostering collaboration with federal institutions. Such engagements are seen as vital in promoting the state’s interests and ensuring its voice is represented in broader national discussions.
Observers highlighted that the Sungkei Anak Sarawak ceremony has become an important annual occasion, offering a platform for Sarawak’s leaders to connect with citizens living in the capital. The governor’s attendance reaffirmed the state’s commitment to maintaining close ties with its diaspora and strengthening cultural identity.
The safe return of Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan to Kuching was warmly welcomed by state officials, who emphasised the importance of leadership presence both at home and in national forums. Their participation in Kuala Lumpur reflects Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to balance local governance with national representation.
As the Governor resumes his duties in Kuching, attention will now turn to upcoming state-level programmes and initiatives, where his leadership continues to play a central role in guiding Sarawak’s development and community engagement.
