KUCHING – Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has formally briefed contractors on the scope of grass cutting, roadside drain cleaning, and landscape maintenance works scheduled for 2026.
The session, held on 25 February at the DBKU Headquarters Auditorium, also included the official handover of contract sites.
The briefing was attended by Ts Mohamad Faisal Adenan, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Services Department, and Puan Maggie Tomeng, Deputy Director of the Development and Landscape Services Department.
Both officials outlined the expectations and responsibilities of contractors, stressing the importance of adhering to technical specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Contractors were reminded that compliance with contract terms and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) would be closely monitored throughout the year.
DBKU also emphasised the need to uphold Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices to ensure that all works are carried out professionally and safely.
The programme marked the first step in the implementation of the annual maintenance contracts. Officials explained that the initiative is designed to ensure that public spaces remain clean, safe, and visually appealing, while also preventing drainage blockages that could lead to flooding during heavy rainfall.
Landscape maintenance, including the upkeep of roadside greenery, is seen as an important part of DBKU’s wider urban management strategy.
By maintaining a systematic approach to grass cutting and drain cleaning, the council aims to improve the city’s environment and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Community members were also invited to attend the briefing, reflecting DBKU’s commitment to transparency and public engagement.
Officials noted that community feedback plays a vital role in ensuring that contractors deliver services effectively and meet the expectations of residents.
The council has pledged to monitor progress closely and take corrective action if contractors fail to meet agreed standards.
By setting clear guidelines and expectations at the outset, DBKU hopes to achieve consistent results across all maintenance projects in 2026.
The initiative underscores DBKU’s broader mission to maintain Kuching North as a clean, safe, and sustainable city.
With the contracts now in place, residents can expect regular upkeep of public areas and improved drainage systems throughout the year.
