Sarawak Governor Joins Raya Takbir Recording with Astana Staff

KUCHING – After recording his Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1447H/2026M message, the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, joined the staff of Astana to record the takbir raya in a special session.

Taking place on March 5, 2026, at the State Astana Surau, the event was brought together by TVS and spearheaded by Mr. Khairil Zharif Affindie, the production team head, to ensure everything ran smoothly. The recording will be aired on TVS Channel 122 on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri for the public to enjoy.

The takbir was led by YBhg Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, the Governor’s Senior Private Secretary.

Along with him were Tuan Haji Junih bin Salleh Ahmad, Private Secretary to the Governor, and Tuan Haji Syed Mohd Rusydi bin Wan Yusup, Religious and Research Officer at the Sarawak State Astana. Other staff members joined in, echoing the general jubilation and thanks of the day.

The registration session is meant to be not just a rehearsal for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri that would come but also, on its own, a symbol of the unity and brotherhood belonging to the Astana people.

The takbir raya is a traditional recitation that marks the final moments of Ramadan and the incoming celebration of Eid, usually performed in mosques and homes throughout Malaysia.

This ties into the governor’s deep commitment to preserving our traditions, which are common among many people during the holiday season.

Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan pose for a commemorative photo session with the staff of the Astana and TVS crew before leaving.

It was an award, recognising the communities that came together and the people who worked tirelessly on the recording.

By ensuring that messages and traditions reach across the state, TVS has assumed an increasingly central role in broadcasting cultural and religious programs in Sarawak.

By including the takbir raya recording in its Hari Raya programming, the broadcaster shows that it is committed to preserving and promoting local customs.

With Hari Raya Aidilfitri just around the corner, the Governor’s involvement in both the festive message and the takbir raya recording highlights how important leadership presence is at community celebrations.

Sarawakians will be able to see their governor of state participate in the religious and cultural observances that characterise the festival, forging ties between leaders and citizens through a televised broadcast.
