PADAWAN – An elderly man tragically lost his life after being struck by a car while crossing the road at Mile 16, Jalan Kuching-Serian, yesterday afternoon (May 20).

<strong>Details of the Incident</strong>

According to Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, the fatal collision occurred around 4 pm. “The collision occurred when a Perodua Viva collided with the victim at the scene. The 83-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” he confirmed.

<strong>Investigation Underway</strong>

The driver, a 29-year-old, has been detained to assist with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are currently investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
