KOTA SAMARAHAN – The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Kota Samarahan District carried out a preventive operation on 5 March 2026, resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of involvement in drug abuse activities.
The operation, conducted at several identified high-risk locations across the district, was supported by enforcement personnel from AADK Sarawak and led by Mr Mohamed Izuan bin Abdul Rahman, Assistant Director of Enforcement and Security.
According to AADK, initial urine screenings confirmed that all 12 individuals tested positive for drugs. The suspects, aged between 20 and 50 years old, were detained and taken to the AADK office for documentation and further action under the Drug Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 (Act 283).
Officials explained that the operation forms part of AADK’s ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and ensure that community areas remain safe and free from substance-related activities.
The agency stressed that preventive operations are crucial in reducing the risks posed by addiction and protecting public welfare.
AADK Kota Samarahan also urged members of the public to continue providing information about drug abuse activities to assist enforcement agencies in their prevention and monitoring efforts.
Community cooperation, they noted, is essential in ensuring that enforcement actions are effective and that rehabilitation programmes can reach those in need.
AADK reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations across Sarawak, with the goal of safeguarding communities and curbing the spread of drug abuse.
