MIRI – The annual distribution of bubur lambuk at the Darul Iman Tudan Phase 2A Mosque once again showcased the spirit of harmony and unity among Sarawak’s multi-racial community.
The programme, organised by the mosque committee, is held every year ahead of Ramadan as part of efforts to share sustenance with the local community.
On Saturday, residents gathered to receive bubur lambuk prepared and distributed by volunteers, reinforcing the values of generosity and togetherness.
Sarawak Transport Minister and Senadin State Assemblyman Lee Kim Shin attended the event and personally joined in distributing the porridge to residents of surrounding villages.
He emphasised that such initiatives not only enliven the Ramadan atmosphere but also serve as a platform to strengthen friendships across different races and religions.
“We are together in every festival, and this is our way of life. I participated in the distribution of bubur lambuk in this area, and it was distributed to everyone regardless of race. This is our uniqueness in Sarawak,” he said.
Lee highlighted that the culture of visiting each other and sharing joy during festive seasons is a distinctive feature of Sarawak’s community life.
He stressed that the values of harmony, unity, and mutual respect are essential foundations for maintaining peace and prosperity in the state.
He further encouraged that community programmes like bubur lambuk distribution should continue, as they foster inclusivity and strengthen bonds among people of diverse backgrounds.
The event reflected Sarawak’s longstanding tradition of celebrating festivals together, regardless of ethnicity or faith.
The distribution of bubur lambuk, a dish synonymous with Ramadan, has become a symbol of unity in Sarawak.
By bringing communities together in preparation and sharing, the initiative reinforces the state’s reputation for cultural harmony and mutual respect.
