Lundu Juh Sungkey 2026 Strengthens Community Spirit with 1,000 Visitors

LUNDU – The Lundu District Juh Sungkey Programme 2026 drew more than 1,000 visitors on 8 March, creating a warm and lively gathering built around picnic-style meals and potluck sharing. The event reflected strong community ties and the spirit of togetherness during the Ramadan season.

The programme was organised by the Lundu District Office together with MYSED and CENTEXS. Lundu was one of five locations across Sarawak selected to host the initiative, and the turnout showed strong support from local residents.

One of the key highlights was the distribution of zakat contributions to 600 recipients within the Santubong Parliamentary constituency. Among them were 200 asnaf from the Tanjong Datu constituency, reflecting continued support for families in need during the holy month.

A total of 1,033 food baskets were also distributed with support from the National Welfare Foundation (YKN), Alliance Bank, PEKEMA and PETRONAS. The donations were meant to ease the burden of households facing financial hardship. Out of the total, 300 baskets were allocated to asnaf recipients. MYSED contributed 50 baskets, Pusat Khidmat N3 Tanjong Datu donated another 50, while YKN provided 200.

The event also included a lucky draw organised with support from ADUN N.1 Opar and MYSED, adding a fun element for attendees and encouraging wider participation.

The Lundu District Council played an important role in ensuring the event ran smoothly. Council officers and staff prepared green bean porridge and fruits for visitors while handling logistics and maintaining cleanliness throughout the programme. Their coordination ensured the venue remained orderly before, during and after the event.

Organisers expressed appreciation to all partners and residents who took part in the programme. Cooperation between government agencies, private organisations and community members reflected the strong culture of mutual support found in Sarawak.

The Juh Sungkey Programme in Lundu brought festive cheer while supporting welfare efforts and community bonding. With strong participation and generous contributions, the gathering stood as a clear example of unity among the people of Lundu.
