The Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government of Sarawak carried out a working visit to the Maradong and Julau District Council (MDMJ) on 12 March 2026, reviewing several development projects aimed at improving local facilities.
The delegation was led by YBhg. Datu Elizabeth Loh, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, who was accompanied by senior officials.
The visit began with a briefing session at the MDMJ Meeting Room, where council representatives presented updates on ongoing initiatives and outlined the progress of projects under their administration.
Following the meeting, the team inspected the Bintangor Sports Complex, a key facility designed to encourage community participation in sports and recreational activities.
The inspection focused on ensuring that construction and upgrades were progressing according to schedule, with the aim of delivering a venue that meets the needs of residents.
The delegation then moved on to the Bintangor Recreation Park, where improvements are being made to enhance public spaces.
The park project is intended to provide families and young people with safe, accessible areas for leisure and outdoor activities, contributing to healthier lifestyles and stronger community engagement.
Officials emphasised that the purpose of the visit was to ensure smooth implementation of projects and to confirm that they will bring tangible benefits to the local population.
The ministry’s involvement also reflects its wider commitment to monitoring development across Sarawak, ensuring accountability and effective use of resources.
Similar visits have been conducted in other districts, reinforcing the ministry’s role in overseeing infrastructure projects and supporting local councils.
These inspections are seen as vital in identifying challenges early, offering guidance, and ensuring that projects are completed to a high standard.
Community leaders in Maradong and Julau welcomed the ministry’s attention, noting that such visits strengthen confidence in local governance.
By engaging directly with project sites, officials demonstrate a hands-on approach that reassures residents about the progress of development initiatives.
The working visit highlights the ministry’s dedication to improving facilities and services across Sarawak. With projects such as the Bintangor Sports Complex and Recreation Park, residents can expect enhanced infrastructure that supports both social and economic growth in the region.
