The session, which ran from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, was held at the residence of TR Mut in Kampung Stalon. It was led by PBT II Bangga ak Baie and PBK I Donny ak Sumping.

During the programme, participants were briefed on the roles and responsibilities of PBS members, while discussions were also held regarding the delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the Kampung Stalon volunteer unit.

The team also conducted a site visit to the proposed location for the PBS Stalon Station. In addition, an audit was carried out to evaluate the unit’s readiness and operational standards.

The session saw encouraging participation from PBS members, tribal leaders, and residents of the longhouse community.

The programme was reported to have proceeded smoothly and in an organised manner, reflecting strong local support for the initiative.

Officials explained that the programme aims to improve the effectiveness of volunteer fire units, ensuring they are well prepared to respond to emergencies.

Involving community leaders and residents also helps strengthen cooperation between the Fire and Rescue Department and the local community.

According to the department, such initiatives are especially important in rural areas where volunteer fire forces play a key role in protecting lives and property.

Strengthening PBS units helps ensure communities are better equipped to handle emergencies, including fire incidents and other disasters.

The initiative highlights the department’s commitment to building resilience at the grassroots level by empowering communities to take a more proactive role in safety and emergency preparedness.
