Mukah Polytechnic’s Jalinan Kasih Program Strengthens Ties with Uma Daro

DARO – The Jalinan Kasih Programme, organised by the Diploma in Secretarial Science, Department of Commerce at Mukah Polytechnic, strengthened ties with the Uma Daro community through activities held from 13 to 15 March.

The three-day initiative aimed to foster collaboration and understanding between students and residents. Activities included the Adopted Child Programme with 23 students, gotong-royong sessions, townhall meetings, sports events, and colouring competitions for children and senior citizens.

These engagements encouraged hands-on participation and direct interaction between the polytechnic and the community.

Senator Michael highlighted the dual role of institutions like Mukah Polytechnic: producing academically competent graduates while nurturing character, soft skills, and community engagement.

He expressed hope that the polytechnic continues to develop students who are skilled, principled, and competitive.

He also encouraged similar programmes in the future to maintain ongoing engagement with local communities and ensure lasting benefits.

In addition, financial support was announced for several community organisations: RM10,000 for JKKK Uma Daro, RM5,000 for the Uma Daro Women’s Bureau, and RM5,000 for the BEM Uma Daro Church Committee. These allocations reflect continued investment in grassroots development.

The Jalinan Kasih Programme demonstrated how educational institutions can extend their influence beyond academics, fostering meaningful connections with communities while instilling values of service and responsibility in students.
