SARIKEI – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarikei District, through its Alpha Squad, responded to an emergency call regarding a snake sighting at Tuai Rumah Jembu, Kerubong, Jalan Selalang on the morning of 16 March 2026.
The Sarikei District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received the call at 7.06am from a complainant named Liza, who reported spotting a snake in her backyard. Concerned for the safety of her family, she immediately contacted APM for assistance.
Upon arrival, APM personnel carried out a thorough inspection and search operation around the reported area. Despite their efforts, the snake could not be located and therefore was not captured.
Officials noted that such operations are part of APM’s routine emergency response, aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing potential harm from wildlife encounters.
The force continues to encourage residents to report similar incidents promptly, allowing trained personnel to respond effectively.
The incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with local authorities in managing wildlife-related risks.
While the snake was not found, the swift response demonstrated APM’s readiness to act on emergency calls and safeguard residents.
APM Sarikei reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and reminded the community to avoid handling snakes themselves, instead contacting the relevant authorities for professional assistance.
