MIRI – The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority has extended support to a local enterprise in Miri through its High Impact Product programme. The initiative delivered equipment worth RM234,500 to raise production efficiency and product standards.
The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority backed the assistance through its HIP scheme, which targets small and medium-sized enterprises with strong sales records. The goal centres on increasing output, improving product quality, and widening market reach.
The recipient, Iana Corporation Sdn Bhd, received two machines under the programme. Funding followed a shared arrangement. FAMA covered RM117,250, while the company matched the amount.
According to FAMA Miri Division officer Kemin Rantap, the programme supports competitive SMEs ready to scale. Firms gain equipment that strengthens operations and prepares them for larger markets.
The package includes a thermal decontamination system worth RM148,500 and a horizontal packaging machine priced at RM86,000. Both systems improve efficiency and support broader product lines.
FAMA selected four entrepreneurs in Miri for the HIP programme this year. Iana Corporation stands as the first recipient for 2026.
Company representative Mohammad Hafidz Rohani said the technology strengthens the firm’s lapis cake production. The thermal decontamination system extends shelf life for layer cakes up to one year at room temperature. Vacuum and heat remove bacteria during the process, which produces safer products with longer storage stability.
The packaging machine also opens new options. The system supports different product sizes and stock keeping units, which helps the company meet varied consumer demand and expand distribution.
FAMA views the HIP programme as a push for innovation among SMEs, with strong attention on food producers. Access to advanced machinery helps businesses meet stricter standards and compete across domestic and export markets.
Industry observers point to the importance of such support across Sarawak. Food manufacturing and agro-based products remain key parts of the regional economy. Programmes like HIP raise efficiency and strengthen the position of local producers within Malaysia’s growing food sector.
With new equipment in place, Iana Corporation prepares for wider production and a stronger market presence. The move reflects continued efforts by FAMA to support entrepreneurs and build long-term growth in the region.
