BINTULU – The Hari Raya Light Up programme at the Tun Taib Mahmud Bridge has brought festive cheer to Bintulu, with decorative lights illuminating the iconic landmark from 17 to 24 March 2026.
Organised in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, the initiative has transformed the bridge into a vibrant spectacle, attracting residents and visitors eager to witness the colourful display.
The lights are switched on daily between 7.00 pm and 11.00 pm, creating a lively atmosphere along the waterfront.
The programme, coordinated by JKR Sarawak, aims to enhance the festive spirit while promoting values of unity and togetherness among the local community.
Organisers noted that the illumination not only beautifies the town but also symbolises harmony and collective celebration during the holy season.
Residents have expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful way to mark Aidilfitri.
The bridge, already recognised as one of Sarawak’s architectural landmarks, has become a focal point for gatherings and photography during the week-long event.
Community leaders highlighted that such programmes foster inclusivity by encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to come together in celebration.
The symbolic lighting is seen as a reminder of the importance of shared traditions in strengthening social bonds.
The initiative also reflects broader efforts to enliven public spaces during festive periods, reinforcing Bintulu’s reputation as a growing urban centre with a strong sense of cultural identity.
As the lights continue to shine throughout the week, organisers hope the programme will inspire similar community-driven events in the future, ensuring that festive celebrations remain vibrant and meaningful for all.
