KUCHING, 19 March 2025 – The Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) has officially launched the Road Safety Advocacy Program in conjunction with Op Selamat 26, ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 celebrations. The program took place at PETROS Darul Hana Multifuel Station, Petra Jaya, Kuching, drawing participation from government and corporate partners.
The program was officiated by the Kuching District Police Chief, YDH ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu. Strategic partners included PETROS Darul Hana, wholly owned by SEDC Energy, and the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS). The event also saw the presence of YDH Supt. Merbin Ak Lisa, Deputy District Police Chief, senior officers from various IPD Kuching divisions, as well as representatives from SEDC Energy and KUTS.
The initiative aims to raise public awareness on road safety, especially during the festive season when traffic volume increases nationwide. It forms part of the Royal Malaysia Police’s ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents and ensure compliance with traffic regulations throughout Op Selamat 26.
Key activities included the flag-off of Op Selamat 26 monitoring teams, distribution of safety advocacy goodies to road users, and presentation of tokens of appreciation to strategic partners in recognition of their support. The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the police, transportation agencies, and corporate partners, promoting a culture of responsible and safe driving.
During a media briefing, YDH ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu reminded the public to drive responsibly, plan journeys carefully, and ensure vehicles are in safe condition before travelling back to their hometowns. He emphasised that the Royal Malaysia Police, through IPD Kuching, remains committed to enhancing advocacy and enforcement efforts to safeguard road users, in line with Op Selamat’s central motto: “Safe Home, Safe Arrival at Destination.”
The program was successfully carried out and received positive feedback from participants and the public, highlighting the importance of community engagement in fostering road safety.
