SPAOH – A family of four escaped serious injury after their car was involved in a self-accident along Jalan Bungin-Seruai early on March 20.
The Spaoh Civil Defence Force (APM) District Operations Control Centre received an emergency call and quickly deployed four personnel, led by Sergeant (PA) Kamarrul Badarudin, to the scene.
On arrival, the team found a Toyota Corolla that had skidded off the road to the left. Inside were two adults and two young children. The adult male had minor injuries to his cheek, while the female passenger suffered light wounds to her forehead and right knee. The two boys, aged two and five, were unharmed.
APM personnel provided first aid at the scene. The family chose not to be taken to a clinic and received treatment on-site instead. After completing their work, the team returned safely to the operations centre with all equipment accounted for.
Authorities said the quick response reflects APM Spaoh’s readiness in handling emergencies and keeping the public safe. They also reminded road users to be extra careful, especially on rural roads where skidding and loss of control are more common.
Residents expressed relief that the family was safe, noting that the incident is a reminder of how important careful driving is, particularly when travelling with children.
APM Spaoh reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community during emergencies, echoing its message: “APM Mukah, Nang Steady” and “There is a Disaster, Call APM.”
The incident adds to recent road accidents reported in Sarawak, highlighting the need for greater awareness among drivers. With festive travel periods approaching, motorists are urged to plan ahead and keep safety in mind at all times.
