Sarawak Governor Safely Arrives in Capital for Aidilfitri Festivities

SUBANG – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, arrived safely at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport’s Skypark Terminal on Saturday at 3.15 pm, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Binti Mohd Sanusi.

They were welcomed at the airport by Sarawak Liaison Officer Encik Awang Supian Awang Daud and Chief Protocol and Ceremonial Officer of Astana Sarawak, Tuan Haji Ahmad Zambri Shah Mohamad Jeman, along with several senior officials.

Their visit comes just before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a time when families across Malaysia gather, reconnect, and celebrate together.

The Governor and his wife are expected to spend the festive period in Kuala Lumpur, catching up with relatives and close friends.

In a short statement, Wan Junaidi shared his hope that this year’s Aidilfitri will bring families closer. He spoke about the importance of taking time to reconnect, especially after a year filled with responsibilities and busy schedules.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri marks the end of Ramadan and holds deep meaning for Muslims in Malaysia. It’s usually celebrated with special prayers, visits to loved ones, and plenty of food shared among family and friends.

His presence in the capital reflects a familiar tradition. Many Malaysians travel long distances during this period to be with family.

Airports and transport hubs across the country tend to get crowded as people make their way home or visit loved ones in other cities.

While his schedule in Kuala Lumpur will stay mostly private and focused on family, the visit still carries a clear message. Even for those in high office, taking time for family matters.

As Hari Raya approaches, his arrival in Subang sets the mood for the season, one centred on connection, reflection, and time spent with the people who matter most.
