According to initial information, the victim had been bathing in the river with friends around 12:50 pm. At one point, he climbed onto a nearby cliff. Moments later, his friends noticed he was no longer in sight.

Realising something was wrong, one of them quickly raised the alarm and sought help from nearby longhouse residents. Emergency teams were then dispatched to the scene to begin search and rescue efforts.

Authorities have reminded the public that rivers can be unpredictable, especially during unsupervised activities. They urged residents to stay cautious during outings and avoid unnecessary risks.

This incident also shows how important quick action is in emergencies. The fast response from the victim’s friends and local residents helped alert authorities without delay.

APM Song continues to stress the need for water safety. People are advised not to swim alone, to stay aware of river conditions, and to keep a close watch on children at all times.

For any emergency, the public should contact the Song District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) by dialing 999.

Cases like this serve as a reminder that river environments can change quickly. Strong cooperation between the community and emergency responders remains key to protecting lives.
