Integrity and Community Relations Central to PDRM Service

KUCHING – Integrity and public trust took centre stage as the Royal Malaysia Police marked its 219th Police Day at the Kuching District Police Headquarters.

A message from Mohd Khalid Ismail, delivered by Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, reinforced a clear point. Community safety sits at the heart of police work.

The long-standing theme, “Police and Society Are Not Separated”, continues to shape how officers approach their duties.

The message also looked back at how PDRM has evolved over time. From its early days during the colonial period to today’s digital landscape, the force has faced constant change.

Through all of it, expectations have stayed high. The public still looks to the police for efficient, reliable service.

Recent criticism around credibility was also addressed. Mohd Khalid urged officers to stay focused and not be distracted by outside pressure.

Decisions, he said, must rest on integrity, the law, and strict adherence to standard procedures. Any action that risks damaging public trust has no place in the force.

The event was not only about reflection. It also recognised those who contributed to public safety efforts. A total of 89 individuals received certificates of appreciation, including See Chee How, police personnel from various divisions, and members of the public who assisted in solving cases. Media representatives were also acknowledged for their role in supporting police work.

The ceremony highlighted a simple idea. Law enforcement does not stand apart from the community. It works alongside it.

As PDRM moves forward, the focus remains steady: uphold integrity, strengthen cooperation with the public, and maintain the trust needed to keep communities safe.
