SEBAUH – The Kampung Hilir Sebauh Aidilfitri Reception brought residents together to celebrate unity while highlighting the importance of community cooperation in facing challenges.
Stephen Rundi Utom said that prosperity must be preserved and passed on to future generations. He stressed that community development relies on active participation from residents who take pride in their heritage and way of life.
Speaking at the Kampung Hilir Sebauh Hall on Monday, Dr Rundi highlighted the role of collaboration between residents, Tuai Raban Bansa, and Penghulu.
He explained that strong communication and cooperation help protect the community’s reputation and ensure coordinated responses during emergencies.
He cited the January floods in Sebauh District as a reminder of the need for preparedness and collective action.
Before the reception, Dr Rundi visited Kampung Labang and Kampung Padan to meet residents and hear their requests.
At the event, he approved RM30,000 for the Kampung Hilir Sebauh Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM10,000 for the Women’s Association to support community initiatives.
The reception was attended by Datu Nyurak Keti, Thadeus Ling Bartholomew Allu, Raymond Plen, and Lau Sie Hung, demonstrating close cooperation between government agencies and local leaders.
The Aidilfitri reception reflected Sebauh’s spirit of togetherness, reinforcing values of unity, preparedness, and inclusivity that continue to strengthen rural communities across Sarawak.
