KAPIT – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) successfully rescued a cat trapped inside a vehicle at Wisma Persekutuan Kapit, Jalan Penghulu Nyanggau, on Tuesday evening.
The incident was reported to the Kapit District Control and Operations Centre (PKOD) by Telekom Malaysia (TM), prompting an immediate response.
At approximately 24 March 2026, Squad Charlie was dispatched with four personnel to handle the situation.
Upon arrival, the team assessed the vehicle and quickly initiated the rescue. Using a controlled pinning technique, the squad managed to safely remove the cat without causing harm. The operation was completed smoothly, and no damage or injuries were reported.
APM confirmed that the cat was secured and the assignment concluded successfully. The squad returned to PKOD Kapit after ensuring the area was safe.
Officials highlighted the importance of public cooperation in reporting such cases. Animals trapped in vehicles can face serious risks, including heat stress and injury, making swift intervention crucial.

Their ability to respond quickly to unexpected emergencies reinforces public confidence in the agency’s commitment to safety.
APM Sarawak, under the Prime Minister’s Department, continues to uphold its guiding principle of integrity and rapid response, ensuring that communities across Sarawak remain protected from unforeseen hazards.
