APM Lubok Antu’s Routine Equipment Maintenance Ensures Readiness

LUBOK ANTU – Regular maintenance of operational equipment at the Civil Defence Office in Lubok Antu has been carried out to ensure preparedness in the event of emergencies or disasters.

On Wednesday, 25 March 2025, personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) conducted scheduled checks and servicing of logistics equipment at the PKOD Lubok Antu base.

The activity, undertaken by MYASPA – O Charlie during the morning shift, forms part of a weekly routine aimed at sustaining operational efficiency and ensuring that all tools remain in optimal condition before, during and after deployment.

Civil defence officials emphasise that such maintenance is critical to readiness, particularly in rural districts where rapid response can make a significant difference during floods, landslides or other emergencies.

By keeping equipment in working order, personnel are better positioned to act swiftly and effectively when called upon.

The scheduled programme, held every Wednesday, reflects the broader commitment of APM to safeguard communities across Sarawak.

Regular inspections cover a wide range of operational gear, from communication devices to rescue tools, ensuring that no equipment is left unchecked.

The Civil Defence Force has long stressed the importance of preparedness. Routine maintenance not only prevents technical failures but also reinforces discipline among personnel, reminding them of the need to remain vigilant at all times.

In a statement, the unit reaffirmed its guiding principles: “WIRABIRU”, “ALWAYS WITH CIVIL DEFENSE”, and “APM FOREVER”.

These mottos underline the organisation’s dedication to serving the public and maintaining resilience in the face of challenges.

Residents in Lubok Antu are encouraged to contact the Civil Defence office directly in the event of an emergency. Assistance can be sought by calling 083-584639 or through the national emergency line at 999.

The Civil Defence Force continues to play a vital role in Sarawak’s disaster management framework. With unpredictable weather patterns and the risk of natural hazards, the emphasis on readiness remains a cornerstone of its operations.

Routine maintenance, though often unseen by the public, is a crucial element in ensuring that when emergencies arise, the response is immediate and effective.
