KUCHING – By successfully launching its second satellite lab in Pines Square, Batu Kawa, this morning, the Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) is set to take a giant step forward in providing better healthcare services. The growth speaks to BMC’s commitment to providing increased access and support for medical needs throughout the community.
The ceremony was officiated by YB Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian, who commended the centre for expanding its coverage to reach more members of the community. He also underlined the need for the decentralisation of health facilities so that communities on the outskirts have access to timely medical care.
Patients will also benefit from enhanced diagnostic capabilities and reduced waiting times with the establishment of the new laboratory. With the establishment of the facility at Batu Kawa, BMC aims to provide more convenient access for residents in nearby areas, especially those who earlier had to travel further distances just to have laboratory tests done.
Attending the event was Kuching South City Council Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, who praised BMC’s efforts in bringing positive changes to healthcare facilities. He said such developments play a role in Kuching’s development as a city that cares for its people.
BMC has gradually diversified its service portfolio since it was founded, and its labs were essential in supporting hospitals and clinics throughout Sarawak. The new laboratory will complement existing facilities and others, providing patients with even more access to medical testing while also enhancing the overall healthcare network.
Community leaders and healthcare professionals proudly decorated the launch ceremony marking the occasion. The event represents not only BMC’s journey but also Sarawak’s ecosystem to ensure congruency and equity in the state’s healthcare system, making sure that everyone has access to medical services.
This expansion further illustrates BMC’s commitment to serving the people of Sarawak and supporting healthcare as a foundation for community development.
