The ceremony marked an important administrative milestone for the state legislature, reinforcing continuity in its leadership and operations. Nur Azhar took his oath of office before Sarawak State Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar. Following the oath, he signed the instrument of appointment, formalising his reappointment as the Secretary of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Speaker Dato Idris Buang, Senior Counsel at the Sarawak Attorney General’s Office Dr Jady@Zaidi Hassim, as well as senior officers of the State Legislative Assembly. Their presence reflected the significance of the occasion within Sarawak’s legislative framework.

Nur Azhar was first sworn in as the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Secretary in 2024, replacing Senator Pele Peter Tinggom. His reappointment signals the state leadership’s continued confidence in his ability to manage the administrative affairs of the august House.

As Secretary, Nur Azhar plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth conduct of assembly sittings, advising on procedural matters, and overseeing the management and administration of the legislative body. The position demands experience, impartiality and a deep understanding of legislative processes, particularly as Sarawak continues to strengthen its governance and institutional structure.

The reappointment underscores the importance of stability within the legislative institution. In a time when governance efficiency and institutional integrity are increasingly scrutinised, experienced leadership within the State Legislative Assembly remains essential.

The oath-taking ceremony not only formalised Nur Azhar’s continued tenure but also symbolised the ongoing commitment to uphold parliamentary procedures and administrative continuity. It reflects Sarawak’s effort to maintain a steady and effective legislative system that serves the interests of the people.

With his renewed mandate, Nur Azhar is expected to continue carrying out his responsibilities with professionalism and dedication, ensuring that the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly functions efficiently and in accordance with established laws and procedures.
