BAU – The Bau District Civil Defence Force (APM Bau) was able to respond to an emergency call regarding a threat of stinging insects at a local government facility yesterday afternoon.
The incident is designated as a mobile special services case (MSS) and took place at the Bau District Education Office.
A member of the public informed the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) at 5:20 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
The caller stated that they had found a very large bee nest, which was characterised as a “Bee Nest of Flies” (a phrase locally used for all smaller, swarming stinging insects), located within the grounds of the education office.
When the alert was received, APM personnel were dispatched to the site. Considering the nest was situated next to a busy public office, team members were more concerned about ensuring the staff and visitors remained safe during this period.
The responders, wearing full protective equipment, neutralised the threat and safely removed the nest with no reported injuries.
The Bau APM is an integral team in community safety regarding non-medical emergencies that potentially endanger the public.
“Our personnel are trained to respond to these types of specialised cases in as effective a manner as the agency can to help keep our public spaces safe for day-to-day operations,” the spokesperson wrote.
Once successfully removed, the area was checked for no renegade bugs remaining. The APM still advises the public to avoid trying to remove nests of bees, wasps or hornets themselves; they can be extremely aggressive when disturbed.
Should any emergencies or special requests be needed in the Bau district, members of the public must contact the APM emergency line without delay.
The agency’s preemptive action at the District Education Office allowed administrative works to continue without further concern for the safety of civil servants or the public.
