MIRI – The Mayor of Miri City Council, YB Adam Yii, held a Meet-The-People session at SUPP Pujut on 4 April 2026, beginning at 10am.
The event provided a platform for community representatives, villagers, and individuals to meet directly with the mayor, submit invitations, present proposals, and raise concerns.
Mayor Yii highlighted the importance of such sessions in strengthening communication between local leadership and residents.
He explained that face-to-face dialogue allows him to understand community needs more effectively and respond to issues in a timely manner.
“I cherish this opportunity very much, which allows me to understand everyone’s needs and voices at the first time,” he said.
Over the years, these gatherings have evolved into more than just consultation sessions. They have become a bridge for collaboration, enabling both the council and the community to work hand-in-hand towards development goals.
Mayor Yii stressed that the initiative is not only about listening but also about building trust and fostering collective responsibility.
The mayor encouraged residents to make full use of the channel, noting that it has proved to be an efficient way to address matters ranging from infrastructure improvements to social programmes.
He added that the sessions reflect the council’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity in governance.
Community engagement remains a cornerstone of Miri’s development agenda. By providing a direct avenue for dialogue, the council ensures that policies and projects are shaped with input from the people they affect.
Mayor Yii reiterated his hope that residents will continue to participate actively, contributing ideas and feedback to strengthen community building.
The Meet-The-People programme is expected to continue as a regular feature in Pujut and other constituencies, reinforcing the council’s vision of a city that grows through cooperation and shared responsibility.
