MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu successfully destroyed a bee nest at SMK Matu after receiving an emergency call on 4 April 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted to the presence of the nest, which was located under the roof of a house within the school compound.
Concerned about the safety of students and staff, a complainant contacted the authorities for immediate assistance.
Upon arrival, APM members inspected the site and confirmed the location of the nest. Officers then prepared the necessary equipment to ensure the operation could be carried out safely.
The team used insecticide spraying methods, including Ridsect, to eliminate the nest. The operation was completed without incident, and the area was declared safe following the intervention.
Authorities stressed that bee nests can pose significant risks, particularly in school environments where large numbers of people are present. Stings can cause severe pain and, in some cases, allergic reactions requiring medical treatment.
The APM highlighted the importance of community vigilance and encouraged residents to report similar cases promptly. Quick reporting allows emergency teams to respond effectively and prevent accidents.
This latest case demonstrates the ongoing role of APM in handling non-criminal emergencies, ranging from pest control to disaster response.
The successful removal of the nest has reassured the school community and reinforced the importance of cooperation between residents and local authorities.
Residents who encounter similar threats are advised to contact the PKOD APM Matu District at 084-832208 for assistance.
