LUNDU – The Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) has intensified efforts to strengthen the use of the eLA2 Licensing System through a site visit and strategic discussion session at the Lundu District Council (MDL) on 7 April.
The working visit was led by Hajah Norashikin binti Brahim, head of the Transformation, Enforcement and Licensing Section at MPHLG, accompanied by three senior officers.
The team engaged directly with council representatives to assess the system’s progress and address operational challenges.
The eLA2 platform, introduced to streamline licensing procedures, has been widely adopted across local authorities in Sarawak. In Lundu, the system is particularly relevant for general licensing and dog licence applications.
During the session, council officers highlighted practical issues encountered in daily operations, providing valuable feedback to ministry officials.
According to MPHLG, the meeting served as a platform to identify constraints and explore solutions that could enhance efficiency.
Officials stressed that the collaboration between the ministry and MDL is crucial to ensure the digital service continues to evolve in line with community needs.
The eLA2 system is part of Sarawak’s broader digital transformation agenda, aimed at reducing bureaucracy and improving accessibility for residents.
By digitising licensing processes, authorities hope to cut waiting times, minimise paperwork, and provide more transparent service delivery.
Dog licensing, a key focus of the discussion, remains an important regulatory measure in Lundu. Proper licensing helps maintain public safety and supports responsible pet ownership.
The council noted that digitalisation could make the process more convenient for residents while improving compliance monitoring.
The ministry emphasised that continuous engagement with local councils is essential to refine the system. Regular site visits and feedback sessions are expected to ensure that technical issues are resolved promptly and that officers at the district level are well supported.
This initiative reflects MPHLG’s commitment to modernising public services and strengthening coordination with local authorities.
By addressing challenges early and incorporating direct input from council officers, the ministry aims to deliver a more effective and user‑friendly licensing system for the people of Lundu.
