KUCHING – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) successfully conducted the Royal Malaysian Customs Driver Excellence Enhancement Course on 15 April at the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy (AKMAL) Sarawak.
The programme brought together 30 participants, comprising drivers and vehicle officers from the Royal Malaysian Customs.
The course was designed to strengthen competence, discipline and road safety awareness among employees, ensuring that professional standards remain high.
Throughout the sessions, lectures and knowledge-sharing activities were delivered by Deputy Head of Driver Licensing Division JPJ Sarawak Hj Nezriman bin Uthman, Road Safety Unit officer Muhai binti Mohamed, and several JPJ Sarawak trainers certified under the Training of Trainers (TOT) framework.
The course emphasised prudent driving practices, adherence to road laws and effective vehicle safety management. These elements are considered essential in maintaining professionalism and reducing risks on the road.
JPJ Sarawak expressed its appreciation to the Royal Malaysian Customs for their cooperation and commitment in supporting the initiative.
Officials noted that the collaboration reflects a shared responsibility to instil a culture of safe driving across government agencies.
The department highlighted that continuous training programmes such as this are vital in producing disciplined, ethical and competitive drivers.
By reinforcing integrity and safety awareness, JPJ aims to contribute to the country’s broader road safety aspirations.
The Driver Excellence Enhancement Course is expected to serve as a model for future collaborations, ensuring that public sector drivers are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to uphold safety and professionalism in their daily duties.
