MUKAH – The Civil Defence Force in Mukah successfully destroyed a wasp nest located on the ceiling of a property following a call received from another agency on Wednesday.
The Mukah District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted to the situation and promptly dispatched a team to handle the case.
Upon arrival, members confirmed the presence of the nest and proceeded with removal using Ridsect spray techniques.
Officials explained that the method was chosen to ensure effective destruction of the nest while minimising risks to residents and the surrounding environment.
The operation was completed without incident, and no injuries were reported among the personnel involved.
Large wasp nests can pose serious dangers to households, particularly when situated in enclosed spaces such as ceilings.
Experts warn that wasps are highly defensive and can attack in groups if disturbed, leading to painful stings and potential allergic reactions.
The Civil Defence Force has reminded the public not to attempt nest removal on their own. Instead, residents are encouraged to contact emergency services for professional assistance.
Trained personnel are equipped with the necessary tools and protective gear to carry out such operations safely.
Community members in Mukah expressed relief at the swift response, praising the efficiency of the APM team.
The incident highlights the importance of cooperation between agencies and emergency responders in addressing wildlife-related hazards.
The Civil Defence Force reiterated its commitment to readiness and integrity in safeguarding public safety.
Residents are advised to keep emergency contact numbers accessible and to report similar cases immediately.
