KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, who also serves as the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trustee, welcomed a delegation from the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trustee Board (LAKMNS) at the Sarawak State Palace on 16 April. He was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi.
The courtesy visit, held at 11.30 am, was led by LAKMNS Chief Executive Officer, Datu Haji Abdul Hadi bin Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir. This marked his first official engagement with the Governor since assuming the role in January 2026.
The delegation included senior officers from various departments within LAKMNS, among them Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Feisal bin Said, Finance Department Chief Officer Hajah Nona Zaharia binti Fadzil, Corporate and Legal Department Chief Officer Siti Emiliana binti Mohamad Edmund, Mosque Management Department Chief Officer Abang Bikusary bin Haji Kadir, Assets and Facilities Department Chief Officer Khasmady bin Mahidi, Investment Department Chief Officer Husmizam bin Ashek, and Management and Services Department Chief Officer Haryati binti Mohamad.
The meeting provided a platform to strengthen ties between LAKMNS and the institution of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak.
It also allowed the delegation to share updates on the board’s ongoing initiatives, particularly its role in enhancing mosque management and promoting welfare programmes across the state.
Tun Pehin Sri expressed his appreciation for LAKMNS’s continuous efforts in improving the efficiency of mosque administration.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening religious institutions to support the well-being of the Muslim community in Sarawak.
The governor noted that effective mosque management plays a vital role in fostering unity and ensuring that religious facilities remain central to community life.
He also commended LAKMNS for its commitment to modernising operations while preserving the cultural and spiritual values of Sarawak’s diverse society.
The visit concluded in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the strong partnership between the state leadership and LAKMNS.
It reaffirmed the shared commitment to advancing religious welfare, improving community services, and ensuring that mosques continue to serve as centres of guidance and support for Sarawak’s Muslim population.
