PAKAN – The Civil Defence Force in Pakan District successfully removed a large wasp nest from an oil palm plantation along Jalan Sungai Pinang on the evening of 17 April 2026.
The operation was initiated after a call was received at approximately 7.30 pm, alerting authorities to the presence of the nest. Four members of Charlie Squad were immediately dispatched to the site.
Upon arrival, the team assessed the situation and proceeded with a controlled destruction using burning techniques. Officers were equipped with full personal protective gear to ensure their safety throughout the process.
The intervention was completed without incident, and the area was declared secure shortly afterwards. Officials confirmed that no injuries occurred during the operation, and the plantation workers were able to resume their activities without concern.
Wasp nests are considered hazardous due to the aggressive nature of the insects when disturbed. Their stings can cause severe pain and, in some cases, allergic reactions.
Experts highlight that professional intervention is essential in such cases, as attempting to remove nests without proper equipment and training can lead to serious consequences.
Civil defence representatives reiterated their commitment to safeguarding communities from wildlife-related threats.
They emphasised that the public should avoid handling such situations independently and instead report them to the relevant authorities. Quick reporting enables trained personnel to respond effectively and minimise risks.
