Selangor FC’s hopes diminished further in the second half after captain Mohammad Safuwan Baharudin was shown a red card for obstructing a goal-scoring opportunity, a decision confirmed by the Video Assistant Referee.

Just over ten minutes later, teammate Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi was also dismissed following a reckless challenge, leaving Selangor with only nine players on the pitch.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Sarawak-based club, which has steadily risen through Malaysian football ranks in recent years. Their journey to the final reflects both tactical discipline and growing confidence within the squad.
