PADAWAN – Twenty-five organisations within the Mambong constituency have received small rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM923,600 under Phase 2/2026, aimed at supporting community development and empowerment.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Transport (Air and Road) and Mambong State Assembly Member, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, at the Padawan Sub-District Office.
In his address, Datuk Dr Jerip explained that allocations are now channelled directly into recipients’ accounts via the electronic funds transfer (EFT) system.
He stressed that this approach ensures transparency and efficiency in implementation, in line with established procedures and regulations.
“I remind all recipients to immediately check their respective accounts and report if there is any delay or payment problem,” he said.
He further emphasised the importance of preparing detailed reports on the use of funds, particularly for organisations receiving larger allocations.
These reports will serve as monitoring tools for authorities, including the Sarawak Ombudsman Unit (UOS), to ensure accountability.
Datuk Dr Jerip also noted that the government aims to complete the distribution of all MRP allocations for 2026 by June.
This timeline is intended to guarantee that every eligible community benefits from the programme without delays or exclusions.
He highlighted that MRP assistance is not limited to specific groups but is distributed fairly across a wide range of organisations, including villages, churches, and associations.
The only requirement is that applications must be properly submitted through the correct channels.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to fulfilling development promises within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring that rural communities receive the necessary support to strengthen local infrastructure, welfare, and social programmes.
Community leaders welcomed the announcement, noting that the grants will help sustain grassroots projects and improve living standards in the constituency.
The transparent distribution system is expected to build confidence among recipients and reinforce trust in government initiatives.
