DARO – Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, continued his official working visit to Mukah Division with inspections of key infrastructure projects in Daro District.
The visit was part of ongoing efforts to monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of projects that directly benefit local communities.
The first stop was the Sarawak Coastal Road Package 03, which involves the construction and completion of the Batang Paloh Bridge.
The project has achieved 90.49 percent physical progress and is scheduled for completion on 3 October 2026.
A detailed briefing was provided by the Mukah Division Engineer together with the contractor, outlining current progress and technical aspects.
Datuk Aidel then visited the construction sites of new bridges intended to replace ageing iron Bailey bridges in Kampung Penuai, Kampung Betanak, Kampung Salah Kecil, and Kampung Penipah on Pulau Bruit.
This project has reached 56.49 per cent progress and is expected to be completed by 21 May 2027.
The replacement bridges are expected to provide safer, more reliable, and efficient access for residents, significantly improving connectivity between villages and supporting socio-economic development in Pulau Bruit.
The Mukah Division Engineer also delivered a briefing on the challenges and strategies being implemented to ensure the project stays on track.
Datuk Aidel’s visit reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure projects are executed with quality and efficiency.
The initiatives, implemented by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), are designed to meet the needs of rural communities while supporting broader development goals.
Officials emphasised that these projects are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen Sarawak’s transport network, reduce travel difficulties in rural areas, and enhance economic opportunities for local populations.
With completion timelines set between late 2026 and mid-2027, the projects are expected to deliver lasting improvements to the region’s connectivity.
The deputy minister reaffirmed that the government remains dedicated to ensuring every infrastructure project has a direct impact on the wellbeing of the people, underscoring the importance of timely delivery and high standards in construction.
