Christian PDRM Members Hold Prayer for 219th Police Day in Kuching

KUCHING – Christian members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent gathered at St. Thomas’s Cathedral in Kuching on 28 April 2026 for a special prayer ceremony to commemorate the 219th Police Day.

The event was held in a spirit of gratitude and reflection, highlighting the role of faith in supporting police officers in their duties.

The ceremony was led by ACP James son of Jonathan, Administrative Officer at Sarawak IPK. Among those present was ACP Maria daughter of Rasid, Head of the Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department.

Also present were ACP Tonny son of Lunggan, Deputy Head of the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department; and ACP Alexson Naga son of Chabu, Kuching District Police Chief. Senior officers, junior personnel, and civil servants from the Sarawak PDRM Contingent also attended.

The prayer gathering was not only a spiritual observance but also a platform to strengthen faith and seek blessings for protection, resilience, and perseverance in safeguarding national security.

Organisers emphasised that such ceremonies reinforce the values of integrity, discipline, and sincerity among police members.

Several retired officers also joined the event, including CP (R) Datuk Gilberd anak Philip Layang, former Director of the PDRM Logistics and Technology Department; CP (R) Dato Mancha anak Ata, former Sarawak Police Commissioner; and SAC (R) Lukas anak Aket, former Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department. Their presence symbolised unity across generations within the PDRM family.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and inclusivity among members of different races and religions.

By instilling spiritual values, organisers hope to strengthen the inner resilience of officers as they face increasingly complex challenges in maintaining peace and prosperity.
