KUCHING – Students, teachers, and parents from Sekolah Kebangsaan Lubok Nibong, Kabong, were hosted at a casual dinner last Friday as part of their educational tour to Kuching City.
The gathering provided an opportunity for the visitors to interact with local leaders while reflecting on their three-day exploration of the capital.
The visit involved Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, with the aim of exposing them to Kuching’s cultural and historical landmarks.
Organisers explained that the programme was designed to help students appreciate the uniqueness and beauty of the city, while also broadening their knowledge of Sarawak’s heritage.
During the tour, the group visited several iconic sites, including the Sarawak Cultural Museum, Kuching Waterfront, Sarawak Cultural Village, Taman Sahabat, and Rumah Seri Kenangan. Each location offered insights into the state’s diverse traditions, history, and community life.
The dinner event, attended by teachers and parents alongside the students, was described as a meaningful occasion to strengthen bonds between the school community and their hosts.
It also provided a platform to acknowledge the importance of educational trips in nurturing curiosity and civic pride among young learners.
Local representatives expressed appreciation for the school’s initiative, noting that such visits encourage students to develop a deeper connection with their state’s cultural identity.
They added that exposure to Kuching’s landmarks helps instil values of respect, appreciation, and awareness of Sarawak’s rich heritage.
The programme reflects ongoing efforts to ensure that rural schools are given opportunities to engage with broader educational experiences.
By visiting Kuching, students from SK Lubok Nibong were able to witness first-hand the vibrancy of the city and gain knowledge that extends beyond the classroom.
